I’ve owned a motorcycle or two since I bought my first bike during high school: A 1976 100cc Suzuki TS100 trails bike.
I purchased it from a friend that only rode it around the farm fields that backed his house so it never saw use on the road. As a result, the bike was stripped of all unnecessary weight (either by design or accident) with the removal of all non essential parts: lights, signals, muffler(?) side panels etc. I rode that thing into the ground and I was hooked.
Now, I’m honoring my ancestors as I ride around the neighboring towns and back roads on a Triumph; It’s a 2003 Speedmaster…Ok, it’s a relatively new model that doesn’t entirely fit with the typically classic styling of the British design, but it looks and sounds really cool and I can’t stop smiling whenever I ride it.
